About the platform

A curated Canadian reference for people planning a custom luxury home — built to be useful to somebody who never contacts us, and honest about what it does not yet know.

What this is

CustomLuxuryHomeBuilders.ca publishes a shortlist of five custom home builders in each major Canadian market, selected editorially against thirteen published criteria, alongside construction cost research, build-location guides and comparison tools. Builders cannot buy inclusion or ranking. It is published by Cody Tritter, a licensed Alberta real estate associate.

Why it exists

A more focused starting point

Search for a custom home builder in any Canadian city and you get two kinds of result: paid placements, and directories listing every company that paid to be in them. Neither answers the question a buyer is actually asking, which is not “who exists” but “who is relevant to what I am building, and how would I know”.

This platform tries to answer the second question. Rather than displaying hundreds of builders, we research each market and maintain a limited collection of detailed profiles, local construction guides, project insights and comparison resources — and we publish the criteria, so the judgement can be argued with.

The trade-off is coverage. Five builders per market means most good builders are not listed, and we say so on every page that shows a list. A builder’s absence means we have not published research on them, not that their work is inferior.

Who publishes it

Cody Tritter, a REALTOR® licensed in Alberta and regulated by Real Estate Council of Alberta. That is a relevant disclosure rather than a credential — it means the person making these judgements works in the industry being written about, which brings genuine local knowledge and a genuine conflict of interest. Both are disclosed on every page.

How it is funded

Two revenue sources, both disclosed and neither attached to an editorial ranking:

  • Sponsored placement. Enhanced photography, sponsored educational content, lead routing, video interviews, expanded project galleries and commissioned market reports. Labelled wherever it appears and visually separated from editorial selection.
  • Professional referrals. Where a buyer asks to be introduced to a real estate, construction-financing, architectural or design professional, and compensation arises, it is disclosed before the introduction is made.

Nothing is charged to buyers. No builder pays for inclusion, position, or protection from an accurate statement.

What it will never do

  • Sell a ranking position or inclusion in a selection.
  • Publish a review score that cannot be attributed and verified.
  • Invent a project, an award, a certification or a year in business.
  • Fill an unverified field with a plausible guess.
  • Distribute your details to a panel of builders who then compete for you.
  • Claim any builder is objectively the best.

Common questions

About the platform

Who is behind this site?

Cody Tritter, a licensed Alberta real estate associate regulated by Real Estate Council of Alberta. That is disclosed on every page rather than buried, because it is a relevant fact about who is making these judgements.

How does the site make money?

Two ways, both disclosed. Sponsored placements — enhanced photography, sponsored educational content, lead routing, video interviews, expanded galleries, commissioned market reports — sold separately from editorial selection and labelled wherever they appear. And professional referral relationships where a buyer asks to be introduced to a real estate, financing, architectural or design professional, disclosed before the introduction rather than after. Neither affects an editorial ranking.

Is this a lead-generation site?

It generates leads, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it does not do is the thing that gives lead generation its reputation: your details are not sold, are not distributed to a panel of builders who then compete for you, and go to a specific builder only when you ask for that specific introduction.

What is the PRPTY Network?

A group of related property-research sites under common ownership. This site links to a small number of them where the adjacency is genuinely useful — acreage listings from an acreage guide, for instance. It is deliberately not in the navigation, because a nav full of sibling brands is how a credible reference turns into a link farm.

Why is the site so incomplete?

Because research takes time and we would rather publish one market properly than ten superficially. Placeholder positions, empty fields and markets with no selection are all visible on purpose. A site that looks finished on day one has either done an implausible amount of work or made most of it up.

Independent verification required. Nothing on this site is a recommendation, endorsement, warranty or professional advice. Editorial selection is not a substitute for your own due diligence. Before you sign anything, independently verify a builder’s licensing, insurance, warranty enrolment, financial standing, references and contract terms, and obtain your own legal, financial and construction advice.

Questions about how any of this works?

Ask. The methodology, the standards and the funding are all published, and if something is unclear we would rather fix the page than answer it privately.
